About Alamogordo
The City of Alamogordo is in the Tularosa Basin of the Chihuahuan Desert, just 16 miles from White Sands National Park, and rests at the foot of the beautiful Sacramento Mountains, which rise 4500 ft from the edge of the city. The mountain resort town of Ruidoso is in the alpine foothills of the famous 12,000 ft Sierra Blanca, named for its snowy cap. Attractions include the racetrack at Ruidoso Downs and the ski slopes known as Ski Apache. The Alamogordo climate is ideal, providing superb year-round sunny weather, more than 300 days per year, and moderate “spring and fall” temperatures for 10 months out of the year. Our two locations provide access to cities such as Las Cruces, El Paso, Albuquerque, and Santa Fe, as well as historically rich locations such as Cloudcroft, Old Mesilla, Lincoln National Forest, and Gila National Forest.
